Desert Dream - A Poem
DESERT DREAM
I dream of a bed of roses,
fragrant, and moist with dew.
Cool and sweet, masking the sand,
the hot, dry grit below.
The sky opens, a blistering white.
Eyes flame. The sun
deposits its shame upon
those who resist, those who
hide in the shade of night.
Calmly, I enter the white, the
heat, the parched, unbending
passion, wishing for the
roses, but finding only
the sand.
